Best Live Band Showcase Finals @ The Yost - Venus Infers, The New Limb, The Jakes, The Union Line, The Living Suns
March 9, 2009
The Best Live Band Finals held last Saturday at the newly revamped Yost theatre in Santa Ana were the very last stop on the Showcases Series. We had such an amazing crowd with close to 600 people coming out to support local music! Everyone came to see 5 of the most young and talented musicians perform and battle for bragging rights and a performing spot for this year’s OC MUSIC AWARDS. The show started off with Venus Infers who have been performing all of orange county lately. They sound like they’ve been playing together for years and really have a passion for what they do. Newcomers The New Limb were up next and had a great set! They had an awesome video playing in the background that they all took part in making. Nice touch! Irvine’s The Jakes took the stage third and had everyone moving with their catchy singalong type songs. Definitely a band you can hear on the radio. The Union Line was up next and sounded incredible! And it didn’t hurt that they brought some friends in other local bands to join in on their last song! These guys are really great musicians who genuinely love what they do and love sharing their music. Last up was The Living Suns. Such a great performance with their more edgy progressive rock sound. It was awesome to see these guys on a bigger stage since they move around so much and are very unpredictable. They definitely kept everyone entertained!
This show was a difficult one to judge - all the bands are talented and have different elements that make them great live. But The Union stood out on this particular evening and took “Best Live band” for the showcase finals.
Make sure to come to the OC MUSIC AWARDS on April 4th and see them, along with Mickey Avalon, Aushua, Venus Infers, Japanese Motors, Suburban Legends, acoustic winner Cory Case, and Humanlab.
This Saturday at the Grove, red carpet at 7 pm, showstarts at 8 pm so don’t miss out!
